City Hall Protest
McFarland just can't seem to stay out of the news. Yesterday afternoon a group of people decided to protest the election results in front of city hall. Humberto Topete went into city hall yesterday to get an explanation on the process that needs to be followed to initiate another vote recount. He has until Monday to submit a letter of protest and a $1000 deposit, this is all that is required to start the process for another recount. Very simple.
After the process was completely explained to Humberto, later that day, he and his friends decided to stage a protest in front of city hall demanding another recount. I don't quite understand why it was necessary to stage a protest. No one has denied him and his friends the right to a recount. It seems that this guy has a difficult time understanding simple directions. This is what he and his Melendez groupies are like, they can't understand and follow simple processes. And they think they can manage this city?
I hope they decide to put up the $1000 deposit. If the recount fails to yield any different results, then the deposit will have to be forfeited and it will be used to cover the costs for the recount. Let's see if these guys are willing to gamble their own money on this, should be interesting. My bet is that they won't do anything and they'll continue to whine about it. They are very good at that and whining doesn't cost them any money.

as you know by now there will a recount on monday the 26 at 3 pm at city hall. The city choose 4 people to do the counting they are residents of mcfarland. How they were choosen we don't know I just hope they are poeple who are honest. It would be a shame if mcfarland has another embarassing incident with the count. This past week Delano was told they are 50 YEARS behind other cities thier same size. I wonder how far we are behind? hopefullly the two bickering parties who have brought division and negativity to the city can grow up in time to move the city in the right direction. It is apparent with only 500 or so voters coming out that residents are gettting fed up with mcfarland politics. people say we need change I hope they mean that we need to change the way we feel about our city and we create a positive attidude for our future.
Yeah, this is to the anonymous person who wrote on 3/17/07 to publish the article in the Delano Record. How foolish, here we are talking about all the unnecessary "B.S." that the city is going through and look at this person trying to put McFarland into more foolish publishing, maybe he's not embarrased over what's going on. But I am, so let's try to keep unnecessary publishing off the record please. Let's try to get McFarland working together, both parties united to make this thing work as a whole.
I think it is important to inform everyone about how foolish the protesters are. It says a lot about the type of people we are dealing with who are trying to disrupt the progress that our city makes. A letter and a deposit was filed this past Monday so a vote recount will take place soon which is what was explained to the group that protested prior to their protest. Everyone's rights were respected during the election process. The protest at city hall served no useful purpose.
HEY rodarte let me educate you on the reason the protest happened. on wednesday after the hand count was given and the city had 3 different counts for the election. mr ford said and was qouted in the bakersfield californian(if you want a copy of the artitcle i will sent it to you) there was going to be another count done by a nuetral party on friday. all we got was a letter by the company the city hired for 25000 dollars basicly saying they were at fault with thier computers go with the hand count, so the city did go with the hand count. HERE IS WERE THE PROBLEM BEGINS LAST I CHECKED THIS COMPANY DOES NOT RUN THE CITY. THE CITY HAD A CHANCE TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND CONTINUE WITH THE NUETRAL HAND COUNT THAT THE CITY MANAGER WANTED TO DO, BUT THE PROTESTERS FELT THE SOMEONE DID NOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN BECAUSE IT WOULD BENEFIT YOUR PARTY TO HAVE A 4 TO 1 VOTE IN THE COUNCIL. THE PROTEST WAS ABOUT THE WAY YOUR PARTY STILL RUNS THE CITY WITH RECKLESS ABONDENMENT AND WITH NO CONCERN ABOUT THE RESIDENTS OF THIS CITY, AND THE DISHONESTY YOUR PARTY HAS SHOWN IN THE WAY YOUR PARTY DOES THINGS, UNLESS IT BENEFITS YOUR PARTY. YOU MENTIONED THAT THE 9 STREET GANG WOULD DO NOTHING AND WHINE ABOUT IT BUT WHAT YOU DID NOT SAY IS THAT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVIODED IF THE CITY WOULD HAVE STEPPED UP AND DONE THE RIGHT THING NOW THE GENTLEMEN CHALLENING THE COUNT HAS TO PAY 1000 DOLLARS OF HIS OWN MONEY WERE THE COMPANY WHO MADE THE MESS GOT 250000 FROM THE CITY. THAT IS WHAT THE PROTEST WAS ABOUT SIR!!!!
