City Council Recall Nomination Papers
The nomination papers for people that are interested in running for the mayor and councilmen positions on August 15th are now available at city hall. I have been told that the deadline to file the paperwork is June 1st so there is still plenty of time to pick up and complete these forms. I hope that we end up with a good group of honest people that are willing to run for office this time. I have included copies of some of the forms that are required to be filled out just to give people an idea of what to expect. Anyone interested in running should pick up original copies at city hall.

I have heard some people in the community suggest that we should host an open forum where all of the candidates that are running for office, including the people that are being recalled, would be invited to sit on a panel and have people from the community come out and ask them questions. I think it's a good idea and I would be interested in hearing what others have to think about this.

I believe that it is an excellent idea! I would like to suggest that Bob over at the Delano Record be contacted and either interview the candidates that will run or sit in during this forum to summarize the ideals and goals these candidates visualize for our city once they are elected. It would be a wonderful opportunity for both the candidates and the people responsible for electing them in to office to express their views and concerns. I hope other people in our community feel the same way. It would signify unity among Mc Farland and that is something we, as a city, do not show enough of. In all fairness, of course the recalled candidates should be included. Of course, keep in mind, that this should not be a time for others to gloat because there was a recall but rather giving a chance to those who were to clarify/help us comprehend their actions. And then, there will always be one or two that will not want to participate so of course it can't be made mandatory but I don't think that will be happening here.
Well, this has been the most detailed and orderly blog, yet. Good Job!
